Part of the Webasto group, Webasto Roof Systems is one of the largest tier 1 suppliers in the automotive industry.
They required a PC-based station that would automatically test completed sunroofs at the end of a production line, before shipping them to the final assembly car plant.
A PC running a bespoke LabVIEW application provides the station control. National Instruments data acquisition products interfaces to the stations control hardware, while communication to a line control PLC is achieved over TCP/IP.
The application is adaptable for the client’s team and includes multi-level user control, result visualisation and engineering personnel setup features. A trend-monitoring feature highlights repeating production flaws, and all measurements are compared against user-defined test limits and recorded in an SQL database.
The application is written so that integration can be uniform into other existing and future production lines.
